The foundation Memorial Leistikowstraße was founded in December 2008. It is held in trust by the Brandenburg Memorials Foundation. The Protestant church organisation EKH owns the building and donated it, the former remand prison, and its visitor centre to the foundation Memorial Leistikowstraße. The interim opening for visitors started with an open house on 29th March 2009. Currently, a permanent exhibition being prepared. After its completion the Memorial will finally be open.
Since April 2012 informed the permanent exhibition „Soviet remand prison Leistikowstraße Potsdam” about the history of the place of detention and the fate of the prisoners. With the opening of the memorial takes on the full operation and is open Tuesdays to Sundays.
